Adoption Center Procedure

The Adoption Center wishes to welcome all new adopters who have filled out the adopter profiles and met the criteria required to become an adopter. The Adoption Center wishes to say another special thank you to those who have been adopters and have made the Adoption Center the success it has been. We are very grateful to all adopters with loving and caring hearts who are willing to accept adoptees into their crabitat so those hermit crabs can have a home in which to live and thrive.
The criteria are fairly strict to become an adopter, but these standards are formulated by the most recent information known to date for hermit crabs to remain healthy. As with any pet, hermit crabs require essentials too, and we are grateful that you are so willing to provide these essentials to our little friends.
For those who are new to the Adoption Center, there is normally a procedure that is followed to find adoptees a home. Once an adoptee profile is received, the Adoption Center will post the adoptee listing on the new Adoption Center Blog at:

and also at the Adoption Center Forum in the Adoptees folder at:

http://www.crabstreetjournaladoptions.com/forum/

The Adoption Center will try to find those adopters who live the closest to the adoptees by matching adopters' zip codes with the adoptees' zip code. The less travel time for the hermit crabs, the better. The closest adopters will receive the information regarding the adoptee listing. When a reply is received from the adopter about the adoptee listing, then the Adoption Center does an introductory type e-mail informing the adopter and crabber with the adoptees with contact information. When there are no close adopters, then adopters who live farther away are notified.
We politely ask that whenever you receive an adoptee listing, please respond, even if you are unable to adopt at that time. That way the Adoption Center can easily keep track of who is still active and who wants to be taken off the list.

Adoption Center would like to remind all, that if you are going to be traveling, or going on vacation, please do feel free to contact us at:
adoptioncenter [at] crabstreetjournaladoptions [dot] com (that is rarely checked for e-mails) or crabstreetjournaladoption [at] gmail [dot] com (that is checked a couple times a day) There maybe an adoptee along your way home that may be in need of a home that you will be able to help. The Adoption Center also encourages e-mails from any approved adopters in regards to adoptees in need of a home that are listed if you feel you are able to help with their placement.
Unfortunately even with the mass number of wonderful CSJ approved adopters, there are still many states and providences where we do not have adopters. If you have room in your heart and your crabitat to give adoptees a home, please fill the adopter profile at:

E-mails are sent from crabstreetjournaladoption [at] gmail [dot] com
Due to spam, all adopter and crabbers with adoptees in need of a home e-mail addresses are not displayed with profiles. Only the Adoption Center has access to the e-mail addresses to try to protect the privacy of those listed on the Adoption Center Blog and the Adoption Center forum.
